Midland Vehicle Components praises Autopart Online's add-on features
Parts supplier says receive count confirm and the registration plate module have made a "tremendous difference"
Midland Vehicle Components (MVC), a Coventry-based supplier of parts to garages, workshops and car dealers, has praised various developments within MAM's Autopart Online software for improving accuracy and efficiency across its operations.
Autopart Online is versatile business management software designed to optimise core processes and improve operational efficiency. There are various add-on modules available that can further enhance its functionality, including those in use at MVC.
Simon Haynes, owner of MVC, explained that the receive count confirm (RCC) functionality has made a "tremendous difference" to his business.
"RCC is a real game-changer for the industry," noted Simon. "It has made us much more disciplined in our buyout process. Previously our stock figures weren't always correct and we would sell into negative stock. Now we're actively tracking goods in and out, so have an accurate view of what we have on the shelves."
MVC started using Driversboard several years ago, and Simon explained how RCC is "the missing piece of the process". Driversboard is a vehicle load planning and delivery despatch module that integrates directly with Autopart. Users can define delivery routes and allocate orders to improve customer service and reduce operating costs.
"Once we receive an order, the picker finds the item, which is then checked by a second picker before it's passed to the driver. RCC supports this process and gives an extra layer of assurance that the right customer will receive the right order," noted Simon.
MVC also uses a barcode scanner, which complements the driver's manifest. "The scanner has absolutely eliminated any picking issues we had in the past," revealed Simon. "This has made a massive difference to us, as we're not delivering the wrong products to customers."
"Previously, we would spend ten to 15 minutes per order finding out why the wrong item had been dispatched - these errors have now stopped completely," he highlighted.
Simon also praised MAM's registration plate module. It is a legal requirement for certain information to be collected and recorded from a customer when they purchase a registration plate, and this functionality has now been integrated into MAM's business management software.
"The registration plate module helps us keep more precise records, especially when it comes to cash sales," Simon noted. "We can't invoice until we've inputted all the proper information."
Simon added: "We are really enjoying using Autopart and this extra functionality only makes us sharper and more accurate."
Mark Kendall, sales director at MAM Software, said: "MVC is the perfect example of how one of our longstanding Autopart customers is making the most of their software.
"We are constantly developing new features and add-ons to help companies in the automotive aftermarket become more profitable, accurate and efficient."
