Cloud software simplifies move to new premises for Syncro Motor Factors
Car parts distributor was quickly able to continue trading as usual following relocation thanks to Autopart Online
Syncro Motor Factors, a leading distributor of quality car parts in Pembrokeshire, recently relocated to new premises in a move that was made much simpler thanks to its use of MAM's cloud-based Autopart Online.
The easy-to-use software is designed specifically for the automotive aftermarket, helping businesses to improve their operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Syncro Motor Factors director John Wiseman explained that the company decided to move to a larger location, spanning around 7,000 square feet, after realising there was insufficient storage at its existing premises. Ahead of the move, the company's priority was to make sure its business management software and phone systems were up and running as soon as possible to avoid disruption.
"We were aware of the logistics and enormity of the task ahead," admitted John, as the company had previously relocated 10 years earlier. "The main challenge for us was to ensure we had the ability to move the whole operation over a weekend, and not close during the week."
Cloud-based software is accessible from anywhere with a suitable internet connection, meaning it was easy to deploy Autopart Online at Syncro Motor Factors' new site. The Software as a Service (SaaS) approach is popular because it eliminates the burden of updates and maintenance, while upfront costs are kept to a minimum.
John explained that all it took was a 10-minute phone call with MAM for the computers to be up and running.
"We were very lucky that we could use the computers at both our old and new sites once they were configured. This was made simple thanks to Autopart Online. We opened for trading at 8:30am with no issues whatsoever, which wouldn't have been possible with our old server-based system.
"If anyone is thinking of moving, then my advice is to plan your infrastructure well. I cannot stress enough that although you will be faced with many hurdles, if you are using a cloud-based MAM solution, then your software won't be one of them," added John.
Mark Kendall, sales director at MAM Software, commented: "Moving premises can be logistically difficult. However, Syncro Motor Factors made preparations to ensure their phone and computer systems would be up and running in time for the start of business on Monday morning.
"This shows how important cloud-based systems such as Autopart Online can be for business continuity. Not having to relocate physical servers saved a lot of time in this instance and meant downtime was kept to a minimum."
