MAM successfully completes clutch kit product code update in Autocat

Improved descriptions make it easier for counter staff to supply the right product to customers

MAM Software is pleased to announce the successful completion of its data update in Autocat, which enables users to better identify the correct type of clutch kit. MAM has been introducing improved descriptions and product codes within the electronic catalogue over recent months following feedback from users.

The update makes it simpler to identify the correct product when multiple options are available for the same vehicle. For example, the changes more effectively clarify conversion type kits, which are used to convert one type of clutch into another.

Autocat is MAM's electronic parts catalogue, optimised to assist motor factors and automotive parts retailers in finding and comparing components from multiple suppliers. The system uses a web-based retrieval technology so the latest information is always available.

A number of key suppliers have been involved in the project:

  • Benchmark Distribution Ltd
  • Comline Auto Parts Ltd
  • Continental Direct (UK) Ltd
  • Exedy Clutch Europe Ltd
  • Ferdinand Bilstein (Blue Print)
  • First Line Ltd (Borg & Beck)
  • Herth+Buss Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co.KG (Herth+Buss)
  • Japanparts (Ashika/Japanparts/Japko)
  • MJ Allen National Auto Parts Ltd (National)
  • Motaquip Factors
  • Schaeffler (UK) Ltd (LUK)
  • Tetrosyl Express Ltd (QH Autoparts)
  • Tibbetts Group Ltd (Rymec)
  • Valeo Service (UK) Limited (Valeo)
  • ZF Services UK Ltd (Sachs)

Andrew Tuby, director of Car Spares Distribution Ltd, explained that the change has made a big difference to counter staff, while also helping to improve customer satisfaction.

"The most important part of the supply chain for us is the person on the parts counter - it is up to them to make sure the customer goes away with the correct product.

"The previous descriptions were confusing for counter staff, but since this recent update, they are able to narrow down their search much quicker and easier. This gives staff greater confidence in the results they retrieve from Autocat, and ultimately the product they are selling to customers," Andrew added.

MAM's sales manager for data and e-commerce products Tony Mason said: "We have already received positive feedback on the updated descriptions from suppliers and users alike.

"This latest project reaffirms MAM's commitment to improving the functionality of its products."
